Imagine being inside of the soul described above’s head for four years. Imagine watching from his eyes a world of haze and chaos pass by. Then imagine the imagination and the poetry that forms inside of this mind for four years and you have Book Of Soul. Book Of Soul follows Jeffrey Bolden through the years 2009 – 2012 painting pictures as surreal as Salvador Dali with stories such as “Never B PeaCe”, a short story about the conditions of gang violence in LA if left unchecked, and “Smile On Her Face”, a poem about a love he could never have shown to him in a dream and following him into Heaven to realistic in short stories such as “Fly”, a short story about a good friend’s baby sister graduating from high school and giving her valedictorian speech to “Beauty Is Her Name,” a short story about a young man verbally and mentally abused by his family who finds escape in his best friend and eventually in that night finds love as well to abstract in poems such as “Maybeline,” a poem about the disguises we put on to the rest of the world to “Love Between Two Poets,” a poem which really could be seen as either erotic or the melding of two minds or better yet, the melding of two pens. Whatever short story or prose or poem you read, know that it was painted with the hues of my soul with a concentration of honesty, tears, and happiness and with that I present to you the tapestry of my experiences, the book of my soul. Book Of Soul.
Author Bio:
I was born October 23, 1987 in San Diego, CA, but I am so Southern. Spent most of my life in the Southern States, living everywhere from New Orleans to McComb, MS to Gulfport, MS, but I’ve also had the distinct pleasure in living in places like Japan and Hawaii. But again, I didn’t just live in those places. If you were to look at my school transcript history and my moving history, you would probably think I was on a world tour my entire life and you wouldn’t be that wrong. My mom was in the Navy so being in the Navy I got to travel and experience a lot. Some good and some bad just like everybody, but along the way, I’ve developed many talents. Not just artistically, but socially as well, which is why I may seem like such an enigma. Usually writers are known for their reclusive behavior, that’s why I get such strange looks when I tell people I am an author. Then they actually read my stuff and then people see why I’m an author. I’ve been called the voice before, an inspiration as well. That’s when I learned that I have power behind these words, and in the great word of Stan Lee, “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.” I have a responsibility to every person who was told would never achieve or would never grasp their dreams because of either where they come from or their past. I owe it to them to show the world that even a Bad Boy like myself can do good.
What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Well I’ve been writing this book unintentionally for some years now, but one of my friends used to tell me she wished she had a book of my poetry and just recently, I decided to make her dream come true. Really Book Of Soul came to fruition for two women. The one whom I love who could never love me and the woman whose love is lost within the friendship that was never true. Book Of Soul is just as honest as the answers given.
