About Featured Book: Shine a Light by Nicky Corcoran

‘Shine a Light’ literally shines a light on real life experiences, some of which are personal to me. This collection of poems shows just how vulnerable we can be when nature and fate unexpectedly throws things our way – yes, life can sometimes be cruel!

In certain situations, we have little or no control over what can happen to us but sometimes, we can be lucky too.

Although none of us can escape fate, there are however certain things we can do to lessen the blow.

My message is simple. We need to take responsibility for our actions and work together to eradicate the greed, selfishness and ignorance that can obstruct and hinder the environment and the world in which we live.

The poems contained in this book will leave you, the reader, with mixed emotions. Some will make you laugh, some may make you sad and others will perhaps strike a chord within you and evoke happy memories of your own.

Shine a Light. Like a huge lighthouse towering over murky rough seas in vast, deep dark waters and rescue teams on the way. Would this be enough to bring you to safety? Would the rescue teams find you? Do they all have what it takes? Will they go ‘the extra mile’ or would some of them want to turn back too soon.

Have you developed the strength of mind that it takes to survive? Will you sink or swim or even keep your head above water?

Irv Weinberg book coverAbout Featured Book: First Dog on Earth by Irv Weinberg

First Dog on Earth is offered for FREE from December 14-18, 2020

At the dawn of civilization, a wolf dog befriends an old hunter and revives his alpha powers among his human tribe. Together with the animal’s pack, they discover a new way of life—a shared odyssey of survival and trust that grows into the most successful partnership the Earth has ever known, changing dogs and humans forever.

The pack led by Oohma encounters the first humans they have ever seen—Ish the old hunter, Lut the gifted young medicine woman and Hun the brutal tribe leader whose jealousy forces him out of the tribe.

This is the poetic story of how civilization progresses all because of the abilities the dogs bring the tribe. Set against the ancient Chauvet Cave in France with its remarkable cave art and the footprints of a small boy and his dog as they walk together side by side as companions not prey.

How does the greatest love story in history begin? With a leap into the unknown, as told in First Dog on Earth.

About Featured Book: Shitolian by Omar Persaud

FINALIST Reader's Favorite Book of the Year Award… FREE book August 3 – 4

Shitolian has wowed me beyond my personal expectations of poetry. The raw emotion concerning the social issues written about has made it abundantly clear that the reader does not have to share the writer's viewpoint to enjoy this poetry. I would never have believed that so many controversial subjects would make for good poetry yet Shitolian is much more than just good: it is at the very least amazing…

Featured Poetry Book: Vermilion by Julian Caesar

vermillionAbout Vermilion by Julian Caesar

Vermilion is a collection of poems that doesn’t take sex, death, or itself seriously. Logical in its madness, Vermilion is a rallying cry, a polemic, and a madcap romp. A whiskey soaked love story with no beginning and no end.

Featured Book: Universal Colloquies Inside of Me by Veronica Thornton

MY-1ST-BOOK-COVERAbout Universal Colloquies Inside of Me by Veronica Thornton

This is a humanizing book of poetry that covers just about anything. These poems inspire you to get out there and do something great, make you think about the things you can probably relate with but were not able to describe properly before, and force you to contemplate upon the deep thoughts written in the form of mesmerizing poetry.
The ideas are very mature and philosophical. There is stuff about change and evolution, and then there are poems about accepting yourself and self love. The poems are delightfully balanced and for those who need to hear the right thing at the right time, they are sure to be of great comfort.

FEATURED BOOK: Human Crutches by Damon Marbut

By Curator

Human_Crutches_by_Damon_Ferrell_MarbutGenre: Narrative Poetry

Life in the French Quarter of New Orleans is bar life, the quintessential stage setting for unfolding dramas, dark truths and chaos borne of excess. In Human Crutches, Damon Ferrell Marbut tells this story with remarkable generosity and skill, providing an inside study of local lifestyle in a great American city. Often humorous and sometimes vulgar, the poems are piercing, honest and layered with urban Southern affect as endearing as it is frightful.

Not since Eugene O’Neill have we met so many lost, disillusioned and downright funny souls in one single saloon. Damon Ferrell Marbut’s Human Crutches is a veritable village of monologists certain to move you, piss you off, and leave you in laughter or sadness. ~Felice Picano
